Patricia Welch has spent much of her career in musical theatre, playing Tuptim with Yul Brynner in the Broadway Production of The King and I. She worked right alongside Robert Goulet in his show, The Man And His Music, singing duets with him and as a featured soloist in his tour throughout the United States, performing with him for a 2007 PBS Special. In 2005-2006 Patricia was also featured soloist in the Wayne Newton Show. She has recently released a 46-song album, Cocktails With Patricia, Great Songs From the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s & 90’s. Christmas In Your Eyes was produced by Bridge of Light Productions, a joint venture of Russian- American songwriting team, Edgar Arens, a composer and resident of Moscow in the Russian Federation, and Johnny Blue Star, lyricist and CEO of New Galaxy Enterprises, Inc., a California Corporation. Edgar Arens, (www.edgararens.com), an emerging film composer and musician who just scored the Russian TV mini-series, The Secret Agent’s Memoir. Edgar single-handedly, created the richly, textured orchestral vehicle for Christmas In Your Eyes, a song which, again, we believe could only be considered a modern Christmas classic.

“We are pleased to offer our song not only to consumers for themselves or to give Christmas gifts, but also to potential affiliates who can share in our revenue stream by signing up for free at our website,” says Johnny Blue Star (www.johnnybluestar.com), President of New Galaxy Enterprises, a company devoted to development of book and film franchises as well as music, through its Bridge of Light Production Division. “. Great Christmas songs have always been a powerful legacy of each Christmas season and it is great to offer folks the perfect Christmas present for only $1.00 by just purchasing a coupon on our website.”

Patricia Welch says, “I have been fortunate in being able to work with various stars and sing some of the greatest songs ever written as part of my repertoire. But now that I’ve started to work with Johnny and Edgar, I am looking forward to a really creative and original collaboration. As a performer, I think there’s nothing more exciting than to work with original, cutting edge material, no matter what the genre.”

Mike Merrick, the famed Broadway producers of shows like “Passion,” “Copperfield,” “Clarence Darrow” and “The Belle of Amherst,” has this to say about the song: “Christmas in Your Eyes” is an inspirational song, performed by an inspirational singer, Patricia Welch. Her interpretation of the beauty of the song, affords it with the true meaning it is meant to convey. A perfect blending of artist and musical materia.”

EVOLUTION OF A SINGER

“Evolution of a Singer” was one of our earlier shows, meant to chronicle the life and work of Patricia Welch. This show gives the viewer a marvelous view of Patricia’s versatility and depth of performance- and her subtle power as an actress capable of fully entering into the “unique voice” of each song, meaning she fully develops and assimilates the character of the fictional and  semi-fictional character created by the songwriter- so that each song is a fully developed creative work of art. Only great singers can do this but not all of them have a four-octave range that can produce the kind of intensity and diversity of each song. For Patricia, as demonstrated by her album, “Great Entertaining- Cocktails, Dinner and Desert” with Patricia, she can accept and face the challenge of doing unique cover songs of the great pop hits of the 1950’s to the 1990’s. She also accepted another challenge, though her work with myself, as lyricist, and Edgar Arens, as composer, bring ingan intensity and power into a forthcoming album and, hopefully, musical called Hadleigh’s Castle, developed in what we Edgar, Patricia and I call the Neo-Classique style. Working with us on this project required a willingness to also live at the cutting edge of unconventional style with uncharted melodic and lyrical  uniqueness. Patricia continues to bring depth to a very commercially depleted musical landscape. Here’s her first interview with us.

The late Robert Goulet was one of the most beloved of our American singers. During the end of his career, he toured with Patricia Welch. Patricia toured with Robert Goulet and was the featured soloist and sang duets with Mr. Goulet in his show “The Man And His Music”. Here is a marvelous video capturing a duet with Patricia and Robert. Most music doesn’t have this kind of depth anymore. Here is “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers Anymore.”

PATRICIA WELCH CAN SING ANY GENRE!!!

One of Patricia Welch’s one-lady shows is titled “The Chameleon.” Now, in no sense does Patricia Welch resemble that colorful little animal except in one very clear sense- she is a singer whose performance identity is somehow married to the soul of a character actress. Coupled with her capacity for her performing as a soprano with a four octave range, there is, indeed, a power here that audiences need to reckon with because in many senses- as she morphs from opera to country to folk to rock and roll, there is a kind of dizzying effect- like- how is this actually possible?

But it is also necessary to enclose this description with the caveat that this is not some kind of trick performance. All her songs, even ones with a sense of humor- are performed with the intensity of a powerful character actress who enters entirely into the song and its genre, forcing audiences into a state of deep empathy with the song and the character Patricia plays. What you are witnessing is a serious, almost miraculous ability to grasp the essence of a character with the vocal range to match its quality and diversity of emotions.

Here’s a bit of this magical diversity

And, now, from the stage and concert venue to Country Westerm diva:

To the rich diversity that  you can find in her new CD collection classic standards.

Check out her magnificent 3-CD set, featuring 46 classic standards delivered in Patricia’s empathically shaped and meticulously performed intensity, “Great Entertainment- Cocktails, Dinner and Dessert with Patricia Welch.” Go to www.ThresholdRadio/PatriciaWelch.com
